Wesley Werner was wounded and subsequently died from those wounds on 10 November, 1918 - the day before Germany signed the armistice ending World War 1.
His remains were later repatriated to his Mt. Healthy hometown and the American Legion Post 513 at 7949 Hamilton Avenue was named in his honor.
